Days to goThe new FUSSELL FIREBIRD 316 was an adaptation of the MACHINE M10 Model, turning that classic Anser®Blade Style into a modern Ultra-custom, hyper-personal, solid feeling and pure-rolling putting piece.
The FUSSELL “316” Putter is mostly inspired by the iconic original PING® Anser® putter designed and made famous by Karsten Solheim approximately 50 years ago. That “dale-head” design is now well in the public domain, and virtually every manufacturer and maker have one or more models patterned after it.
The FUSSELL “316” Putter integrates modern technology and aesthetics into that classic shape. These features include an impressive combination of industry firsts backed by multiple Patents. These include adjustable weighting options in the heel and toe and in the cavity directly behind the face and the breakthrough patented Fussell CRUCIFIX grooves.
The 316 marker is indicative of the metal used to make these putters. They are made of 316 Surgical Stainless Steel. This model will only be available in this precious material. 316 Stainless steel contains a minimum of 16% chromium, 10% nickel, and 2% molybdenum. The main difference between 304 and 316 stainless steel is the fact that 316 stainless contains a significantly increased amount of molybdenum. This increase in molybdenum results in increased corrosion resistance. Molybdenum is a transition metal and has high corrosion resistance. It also gives 316 stainless steel high heat resistance of up to 1600 ⁰F. Similar to 304, 316 stainless steel is chromium-nickel stainless. If the environment has high amounts of corrosive elements and/or materials that would be placed underwater, 316 stainless is a preferred choice.
Fussell licensed Dave Billing’s patented Interchangeable Modular Hosel technologies allowing the golfer to select and adjust the neck style, length, offset, lie angle, and putter head balance, which are adjustable when using the Delta Mod Adjuster system, another industry first.
The head markings will include markings related to and surrounding the most iconic Bible verse in the New Testament.
“For God so loveth the worlde yt he hath geven his only sonne that none that beleve in him shuld perisshe: but shuld have everlastinge lyfe.”
Markings will include religious symbols and signs, including crosses, Biblical numerology, and other special characters related to the 3:16 moniker. All markings are hand stamped, finished, and painted. All stampings are done with 3/16″ character size stamps.
The most striking feature of this new proprietary Fussell offering is the patented VWG (Variable Width Grooves) “CRUCIFIX” grooves designed by David Billings. They are unique to the 316 putter model and provide an industry-first feel and performance. The design incorporates the cross structure in the milling pattern and aesthetic. Milled lines are cut vertically up and down the face in a pattern that dissects the horizontal cuts exactly in the center of the face of the putter. The lines also vary in width as they stagger evenly along the face of the putter. Not only the width, but the angle of the grooves have a positive effect on the surface of the ball. All these attribute to the most optimal feel and spin on the golf ball.
This State-of-the-Art Fussell Putter and its industry leading Fitting, Adjustability and Performance features are covered by US Utility Patents, licensed through MACHINE Sports Technology, LLC. Proprietary Groove design by David P. Billings (as an integral aspect of the patent portfolio license).

FUSSELL SHOP Putters: Made at MACHINE Starter’s Custom Putter Shop, with a host of customization options including head and hosel material, plating and finish combinations; lie; length; as well as special shafts and grips.
FUSSELL PROTO Putters: FUSSELL Prototype putters are extremely rare, often one-of-a-kind creations and innovations from Travis Fussell, used to explore and test new concepts in design, construction and / or finish. These are usually made in less than five pieces total, ever, and are tested with some very special friends whom Travis works with, trusts and highly respects. Minor modifications are designs and made into subsequent models if and when they get added to the lines. Therefore, the original PROTOs are discernible, rare and unique.
FUSSELL ART Putters: FUSSELL ART putters are Travis Fussell’s most creative, artistic and expressive pieces, as well as the putters he puts the most time, (and a little blood sweat and tears into as well). From special materials, one of a kind stamps, unique grinds, extravagant hand hammered peening, large amounts of melting, wild hand torched flaming and numerous other artistic touches, these rare and unique ART Putters are sure to find a prize spot in a few lucky putter aficionado’s collections.
FUSSELL GARAGE Putters: Finished by Hand by Travis Fussell in his studio, where he does his most creative work, and puts in countless hours making sure each of these putters is “just right!” From special grinds, melted edges, select hand hammered peening, special finishes, including hand rubbed satin, hand blued, and hand flamed Rainbow, to special “signature” stamps, to hand bent hosels. These are just some of the options available with FUSSELL Garage Putters.
FUSSELL TOUR Putters: Just as the name implies, TOUR putters are built specifically for TOUR players to try and use. Sometimes these are tested by players, and then passed on to collectors and loyal customers after coming back from their gypsy life out on TOUR. Hopefully a few will make their way into TOUR players’ bags, and on to help those players do great things!

Risks and challenges
Although this is our first crowd funding project, we have extensive experience bringing golf products to market. Over the last 20+ years, we have had to deal with a wide range of issues in the golf industry and have successfully navigated many different types of challenges. We are committed to getting the product right and getting it to you so you can make use them effectively!
Some potential issues include:
Supply chain learning curve-
Ramping up capacity has many moving parts. We have selected a group of suppliers that have proven track records in the golf industry. However, it is to be expected that improvements in process and efficiency will need to be made as we transition from prototype quantities to higher volumes.
Acts of God or events that are outside our control-
Delays from transportation strikes or problems due to extreme weather conditions are examples that are certainly in the realm of possibility. We have added some buffer time into our schedule. However, it’s possible that we encounter something that could impact delivery dates.
If there is an issue that will impact you (our backers), we promise to keep you informed on status and do whatever it takes to solve the problem in the best way possible.
